Google Talk: Minor Update

Henrique Gusso informed me Google silently updated Google Talk from version 1.0.0.64 to 1.0.0.66. If you spot any differences, let us know in the comments.

Google Print Ads

CNet reports Google has been expanding its AdWords business into the offline world. How did they do it? They’ve bought ad pages in technology mags, like PC Magazine or Maximum PC; they then split up those pages into smaller portions (quarter or fifths, at the moment), and resell those. The Onion on Google’s Destruction Plan

Online satire magazine The Onion says, Google Announces Plan To Destroy All Information It Can’t Index.

“Our users want the world to be as simple, clean, and accessible as the Google home page itself,” said Google CEO Eric Schmidt at a press conference held in their corporate offices. “Soon, it will be.” (...)

“Book burning is just the beginning,” said Google co-founder Larry Page. “This fall, we’ll unveil Google Sound, which will record and index all the noise on Earth. Is your baby sleeping soundly? Does your high-school sweetheart still talk about you? Google will have the answers.”

Google Groups Results Included In Web Search

Robert Gale of the Welsh View blog got a Google Groups result at the bottom of a normal web search – see the screenshot. This seems to be an experimental or personalized feature, as it can’t always be reproduced searching for [sql server date settings].
