Gmails News: View Attachments as HTML and More
Two news bits for Gmail; several attachments (like Word or Adobe Acrobat) can now be viewed directly as HTML in the browser. Also, there’s now a “Call and IM for free with Google Talk” advertisement button to the left. I strongly suppose Google was thinking “this is related to email, it’s not an annoying ad”, but still they allow you to close it. (They might have just checked their database to realize I already used Google Talk, but oh well, I suppose that’s a lot of overhead.) Also, the “Move to trash” button is now titled “Delete.” [Thanks Steve Rubel, RH and ArsBlog.]
ChoiceBlogger: Cats?
ChoiceBlogger’s vote for what I will blog on in January so far looks like cats are winning. Of course, the month is still young and many people may yet submit their vote – and some blogs started campaigning for the topic superheroes. In the meantime, I’ve added a feature: you can now suggest a topic. Also, there’s a new ChoiceBlogger button, the latest comments are now showing to the right, and there were some behind-the-scenes changes (I switched the site to UTF-8, because the first search results via the Google API came in).
New Firefox AdSense Button Colors
If you log in to your Google AdSense account, you will see some new colors in the Firefox referral program; blue and orange. [Via French Zorgloob.]

The Wall Street Journal’s Lee Gomes has an article up called “Tech Blogs Produce New Elite to Help Track The Industry’s Issues.” (Poor Gabe Rivera, who gets a dead link to his site as “http://tech.memeorandum”, missing the “.com” suffix.)
