Google Fixes Some Censored Results

CNet’s Declan McCullagh, who earlier reported that Google was censoring such things as “teen pregnancy, homosexuality, dating, beer and jokes”, now writes that Google seems to have fixed this:

“A day after Google’s buggy censorship of sites for Chinese-users was revealed, the search giant has responded by fixing its filters so topics such as beer and jokes are no longer deleted.”

I could reproduce this behavior. Yesterday when I tested, a search for Playboy.com’s site did not show Playboy.com in the Google.cn results, yet also didn’t mention that results are missing. Today, Playboy.com can be reached on Google.cn.

Interestingly enough, searches such as those for the censored stormfront.org on Google.de are not disclaimed as censored results (and haven’t been for years).
