Google Base API Released

Google released the Google Base Data API. This allows you to programmatically create new items, and edit or delete existing ones. You can also query for items with specific attributes. The API is REST-based (you’ll be accessing Atom XMLs through parametrized URLs.)

Examples of Google Base queries are typical Google searches like the following:

Google Base is starting to get interesting... with the API, it’s certainly looking much more like an online database than before.

What’s missing right now are some more code examples in languages like Python or PHP5. I came up with a PHP5 sample application. You can take a look at the source code or download it. Also see a typical XML Google Base returns for searches.
