Extra-Large Google Snippets?

This forum thread talks about extra long snippets for searches like these (typical Google results snippets only have 1 or 2 lines, these ones have up to 9). I can’t reproduce this, but it seems to show only for supplemental results. Netads has more screenshots. Was this a temporary glitch or a preview of things to come?
