Google sells domain names with eNom and GoDaddy

Google Apps for your domain was useless if you didn’t already have a domain name. But you can now subscribe to Google Apps without owning one because Google allows you to quickly and easily purchase a domain name when you sign up. Thanks to a partnership with eNom & GoDaddy.com, Google helps you to find, register and buy a domain name in three clicks.

Google currently supports .com, .org, .net, .biz, .info domains. The only way to pay for the domain is with Google Checkout, and the price is the same for all the domains: $10 per year.

During the registration, you have to fill in a form for the WHOIS data, where you can check an option to “Keep my registration information unlisted. Do not make it available in the WHOIS directory unless required.” This service is currently only available in English.

While the idea is OK, you can buy domains cheaper than $10 per year. It’s interesting to note that Google is a domain registrar since [January] 2005, although it has never used this status to sell domains.
