Understanding Google’s Webmaster Guidelines

Patrick Sexton’s FeedTheBot.com explains the Google webmaster guidelines in great detail. Not all guidelines are covered yet, though, e.g. “Don’t use cloaking or sneaky redirects.” For example, Google does not believe that redirecting the user from “webmasterworld.com/forum44/1287.htm” to “webmasterworld.com/login.cgi? status=google.&url=http://www. webmasterworld.com/forum44/1287.htm” (which shows another content than the Google result snippet presented, that is, a registration screen instead of the text one searched for) is sneaky, even though some webmasters might have thought so after reading the guidelines.
