I would appreciate your help. I would like to access my gmail account via Outlook 2003 at my desktop. However, I do as Gmail instruct me, but I when I launch the test module, I keep on getting the
Test account setting I always bump into a popupwindow Enter network password "server : smtp.gmail.com + username + password (both already filled in"
Whatever I do, even if I click on "save this password in your password list" this popup keeps on coming back fast and in the end I cannot access my gmail account via POP3
I got the same problem with another free emailaccount via POP3. Do I have to adapt my NORTON INTERNET SECURITY SUITE 2005 settings ????

I sent this to the Gmail people:
During "Test Account Settings" process, only the 4th step fails – "logging on POP failed because the server didn't recognize your username or password".
It said on this help center to INCLUDE "GMAIL.COM" for 'USER NAME'.
After I just input my 'user name' WITHOUT "gmail.com", all the steps went fine.
So perhaps your help center is outdated? Fix that please, so others won't be confused.
**4th step failure is what causes that anooying popup. |
