I don't know ... the recent redesign of the video page didn't do any good (the functionality listing playlists containing the video seems to be gone), which makes me suspicious about redesigns of the rest of the site... :-/

The preview of the new design looks cleaner than the current design. And the red color of the navigation tabs is also consitent with the red "tube" part of the logo. Actually, having seen how consistent the red color is in the new design, it now feels odd looking at the old design with a gray color. I also like the on-hover menus since they made the page a lot more cleaner, I'm just concerned about its discoverability, specially since theses "on-hover" menus are not as distinctive as it could have been (say with a different background color or font color). It's still not perfect, (and I hope they make it more polished), but I like it more than the current design.

They've updated it so it's less ghastly (only slightly though). Sadly Orange + Grey and Blue isn't a colour scheme that should be used.
