After months of delay (was scheduled to release by the end of 07 – they did, but limited), the new version of Urchin (server-side log analyzer, powers Analytics) is now in public beta (available in 90 day trial version).

Sigh, I guess I figured out why linking to Blogger images rarely works...

Why don't they make it free since Analytics is free
What can it do that analytics can't?

Not exactly the same, but I will put it this way – It's free to use Google, why don't they open source it?

Agreed. Same with Google Earth and Picasa.
And Google Talk-- open source alternatives already exist to google talk. and gtalk only runs on windows. i don't even see why it exists. I've never really liked it.

It is $3k after the trial!

Sam
Yes, after the beta.
Just FYI, $3k is about half the price of Urchin 5 in 2005! I have used almost every enterprise analytics on the market and can say Urchin is the best. (been using it myself since 2001) Honestly, why else would Google buy it?
