Nine mystery silver discs can be seen above a bookmaker's shop in an image of Bethnal Green, east London, taken last year.
They appear to be flying in neat formation in three rows, attracting the attention of several passers-by, in the photograph of Wolverley Street.

I think this place is where the photo from the newspaper has been taken from: http://maps.google.com/maps?sourceid=chrome&q=Wolverley+Street,+london&ie=UTF8&split=0&ei=Pn3VSZrXKZOZjAeu4oHrDg&ll=51.527009,-0.059652&spn=0,359.978027&z=16&iwloc=addr&layer=c&cbll=51.526984,-0.059876&panoid=yWUl3mTYK5R_bqx71NTTvA&cbp=12,310.65321585616937,,0,-1.5039062500000056
No trace of any UFO... |
When I zoom in, it looks like birds to me, and nothing like "discs". Admittedly, the flying formation is not the usual one but I've seen stranger patterns. |
the "ufos" are here

see how i've gone up a sidestreet – and another wolverey main street view is displayed.. odd isnt it? maybe its a google "ufo" easter egg? |
I've worked it out! It's the Air Force "Red Arrows" aerobatic display team. They fly groups of 9 planes in that formation: http://www.bbc.co.uk/essex/content/images/2007/09/04/red_arrows_emily_01_470_470x352.jpg |
Here's the StreetView pic for comparison: http://i40.tinypic.com/fdf6eq.jpg |
hey – great detective work Roger. that certainly sounds plausible.
i remember the red arrows flying over my house last summer, about the same time as when google was doing streetview uk.
