Still same old, same old. Not better; a different flavor of window dressing. |
The main difference is that the bookmark manager is now a web page, much like the browser history listing. |
it is already in chromium. |
Wow, you can put a webpage in a folder! Just like in 1972! Tags would be so 2000... |
I hate the History function of Chrome. I wish you could see your history in the history menu rather than go to a separate page. |
By and large bookmarks and history management in browsers are a disgrace. It's like an elephant in a room, so obvious nobody sees it. Browsers index history solely in chronological order because it is a no-brainer, and we simply MUST recall when we visited now vaguely-remembered sites. Indexing browsing sessions in terms of time spent reading individual pages, or frequency of returns to the same page/ server, or number of followed links (referrers from the url) has yet to occurr to any single browser's maker.
Jérôme mentioned tags, but what's wrong with auto-tagging? The browser should be intelligent enough to scan content of all visited/ or merely bookmarked/ pages for occurrencies of my preset tags AND concordance with such on other flagged pages, and assign relative values to each instance. Which then would be used to construct weighted personal tag clouds, and for in-browser "PageRanking" them in a combined History/ Bookmarks tree (or other easily navigable visible structure). Don't get me started. |
