senders of sexually explicit text messages may face fines or even imprisonment, in china http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2006-02/27/content_4234003.htm |
Try texting about censorship, village massacres, Laogai horrors, freedom, religion, human rights, Tibet, Taiwan, corruption...
Those are the REAL reasons Beijing is scared of text messages.
Including explicit language is just a propaganda "cover" for the REAL reason for round-the-clock spying on text messages and rounding up the offenders.
Send "remember tiananmen square" and see if you don't get a more harsh punishment than sending something obscene.
The "threatening and fraudulent information" clause is what they will use to prosecute those texting for freedom and human rights--because it "threatens" the dictators who know their desperate attempt to stay in power will last not one minute longer than their equally desperate attempts at censorship.

Hey, one more thought:
Just which free-world companies are helping to build the hardware and software to track and report on text messages and their senders?
Anyone got info on this? |
