Before it was defaulted to German to English.

It also looks very different.

The "Get Translate Buttons" returns a 404

Weird... it looks the same to me. Mind you, I can't remember specifically what it looked like before the "change"

Yeah, it looks a little different to me...
By the way, what're Translator Buttons?

Don't now but I guess we'll find out when they decide to activate the url. it's probably a button you can drag onto your browser for a one click translation of any web page your viewing.

I think what DPic guessed is right. And BTW the page seems to be changed definately.

I am seeing a slight redesign from yesterday, actually.

Here's the screenshot: http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q209/kdonovan11_photo/translateredesign.jpg

I wrote an article about that yesterday (http://www.zorgloob.com/2006/10/changements-sur-le-traducteur-google.asp) and I sent the news to Philipp

As you can see, now the translated text is at the right of the text that you have to translate. Before there was in the same text area ;)
And of course the link to "get buttons", which doesn't work although it is translated in all the languages...

I get the new translation design too, Tom alerted me to it yesterday, and I forwarded the dead link bug to Google. Are they getting ready to roll out something there? I'd love to have the new translation efforts go live for all languages...

"Get Translation Browser Buttons"

This sounds like they might have either (i) created their own Google Toolbar buttons to make it easier to translate content using Google Translate... or (ii) they're going to promote the buttons I made for the http://www.FreeTranslation.com website:

http://toolbar.google.com/buttons/gallery?q=freetranslation

Somehow, I expect it will be the former... :-(

Like TOMHTML pointed out text is instantly translated and appears on the right side.

Translation Browser Buttons are working now... they're bookmarklets to quick translate a page or the selected text from one language to another.

I preffer gTranslate ;P

It's still doing a POST though – no fancy AJAX stuff. It just seems to be "instant" because it's Google...

Yeah, the buttons are old technology – just like these:

Inspired by these:

Maybe Google RS2 is coming soon...?

I like this new look.

"I preffer gTranslate ;P"
Ha, I wonder why :)

I like the 'Translate Page into English' option on the info button from the FF Google Toolbar
