How do you optimize your google local ranking? |
Mike.
I have been wondering the same thing because screw optimizing on just #1 optimize for A B or C! |
Interestingly, these "location reviews" are not much different from what one might expect from the Google Kiosk. http://blogoscoped.com/archive/2007-01-18-n12.html
Just deliver the location reviews from a public kiosk near the location. |
Interesting that their three example cities are Cambridge, MA, Pasadena, CA, and Pittsburgh, PA. Some part of me thinks this may not have been entirely coincidental. |
If by >>“fair use” snippets & ratings<< you imply that these come from the general Google spider and are processed similar to Google News, I can assure you this is not the case.
Yelp, RestaurantRow and CitySearch are content providers, they actively make these reviews available to Google for integration with Google Maps. I know, because I created just this export for our data at my previous employer (not one of those above).
Google has a quite detailed XML Schema you use to export a XML file with the name, address, phone number, categories, reviews etc. This file is then regulary fetched by a Google spider and used for Google Maps.
BTW: First time I noticed Myspace is exporting their profiles into Google Base. Try http://base.google.com/base/search?q=addicted2salsa

This seems like a response to a similar feature that appeared in Ask City at the beginning of December:
