Hey guys.. First time poster here.
I've been hearing rumors around the area here that Google purchased a large area of land in and around Counciul Bluffs, IA to build a new office. Chances are it will be offices to expand their server farms. I guess my question is, has anyone heard anything about this? The rumor is that a large drive-in theatre, recently closed down, was supposed to be the place for their new office.
Wondering if anyone has the tools or resources to dig into the Council Bluffs, IA city government offices to find out... ? |
In Ireland you just walk into the CoCo's Office(Áras an Chontae) and ask to see the plans. They charge €20 If you want a copy to keep. |
and another one they want to biuld office in wroclaw poland and give jobs for 200 people for start. they got grand from polish gov |
I live in Council Bluffs and it's a real secret as to what is being built there. The contractors don’t even know, but I heard the same thing. All that’s going on right now is dirt work |
If its a server farm then it would be kept super secret. They didn't talk about their Oregon server farm for almost a year when that was being built. I wonder how many server farms they will build in the US. They have plans for 1 in North Carolina and 1 in South Carolina already. |

This one is written tongue-in-cheek. Here's my personal favorite comparison:
"In Silicon Valley: Search engines In the Missouri Valley: Train engines
Google search finds: "Railroading has had a most profound impact on the development of Council Bluffs. Nothing else influenced the city's history so dramatically for so long." – www.geocities.com/heartland/plains/5660/rrhist.htm"

I'm sure it's probably Google. One of the few that likes to keep those things securely under wraps until they get to announce it. |
It is Google. I had it all but confirmed by my state legislator over the weekend. The Iowa House passed a ton of tax breaks to lure them there. |
So Google is building data centers in North Carolina, South Carolina and Iowa. Their Oregon data center should be done by now. Do you think they will have at least one data center per state in the US? |
