I was just wondering that is it safe if we use the Greasemonkey scripts for Gmail, because in the program policies of Gmail (mail.google.com/mail/help/prog ...) it is stated in the prohibited actions :
"Reformat or frame any portion of the web pages that are part of the Gmail Service"
So, my question is that, can this lead to termination of account???

I don't think so. Greasemonkey is mostly JavaScript code, which runs locally and reformats or adds new functionalities only for you.
Mihai Parparita (who works at Google Reader) wrote a lot of great Greasemonkey scripts for Gmail: code.google.com/p/gmail-grease ...

That's what Matt Cutts responded when Phillip asked about the subject:
"Philipp Lenssen, it wouldn’t be my place to comment on Gmail’s policies about stuff like that, but I can tell you that people here love Greasemonkey. The only times I’ve seen trouble with 3rd party stuff + Gmail was when people were doing abusive stuff (e.g. a 3rd party notifier that was checking 1000 times/second for new email)."

We should'nt have to use GreaseMonkey (and I don't use it). The javascript codes should be built-in Gmail code by the Googlers, if the GreaseMonkey scripts are cool and/or useful, of course.

Well, Thanks everyone for the input. I guess Matt's answer was good enough to tell us that we can use the script, till the point its not abusing the system. Thanks a lot everyone for the input :)
