Checked my stats after lunch, and there's a brand new flashy interface for Google Analytics. http://blog.frivolousmotion.com/2007/05/new-interface-for-google-analytics.html

Here's a pic (hope it works): http://bp2.blogger.com/_nYL8yRi-mHs/RkCo8ipmzBI/AAAAAAAAA9g/xjoQiEDxqXo/s1600-h/goo.jpg

I've got the new header, but not the full new interface.

Looking promising. I hated the previous (current) one – too pointlessly big.

(I don't think Blogger allows hotlinking. The pic doesn't display unless I click it.)

I was going to say that I saw this earlier today but then I checked your pic! What I saw earlier must have been stage one of their migration where they'd just changed the header but none of the interface.

I hope this means Analytics is more user-friendly now...

[Moved from "New Google Analytics" – Tony]

Welcome to the new version of Google Analytics!

Your new reports have been designed to help you learn even more about your site traffic and marketing initiatives.
The redesigned interface is now the default view. To access it, click "View Reports." We think you'll love the new Google Analytics, however, you can still access the previous reporting interface. To do so, click "Previous Interface" below the "View Reports" link for any profile in your account. Note that your data and configuration settings remain unaffected regardless of which interface you use and your data continues to be tracked in the same way as it was prior to the redesign.

Google Analytics has many new features. Read our blog post, read the FAQs or watch the flash tour to learn more. If you have difficulty finding specific reports in the new interface, you may find the report finder tool to be helpful.

It's new and it'sexy. Some screens I made:

Others may have this on their Analytics settings page:

We're excited to announce the newly redesigned Google Analytics.
Over the next several weeks, we will be migrating all existing Analytics accounts to the new Google Analytics interface. You will be notified by email once your account has been migrated. For an entire month you will be able to access both the original interface and the new interface. During the migration, you should experience no interruption in service and you'll be able to see all of your data regardless of which interface you use. For a sneak peek at the new Google Analytics, take a look at the following resources.

Should've known about the hotlinking. Next time I'll use my precious shared hosting. Thanks bartheq for posting those pics. That traffic makes my blog look like a toy.

bartheq, Kevin must have hit "Submit" just seconds before you because yours wasn't here when I read this thread... Good catch both of you! ;-)

Did anyone notice the stats Google shows us in the feature show?

At http://www.google.com/analytics/media/report_tour/feature_tour.html apparently one gets a glimps of the insides of Googles own stores account

Looks like business is gooooood :)

The new Analytics version is a beauty, nice job Analytics Team! Role it out for all real quick please.

I'm not familiar with Google Analytics prior to this change, but the updated interface seems to have some MeasureMap flavor added to it.

Martin Porcheron [PersonRank 10]

The new pie charts look similar to those integrated into Google Spreadsheets a week or so ago.

There is a press conference tomorrow in Google France about that, so I think tomorrow the new design will be rolled out.

I don't see the new design when I log into my analytics page.

I don't have the new design on my analytics account either! :-(

James Xuan [PersonRank 10]

Is this in anyway linked to the MeasureMap purchase last year

Tony Ruscoe [PersonRank 10]

James, maybe.

<< We've been working on this since I blogged about the Measure Map acquisition. Since then, we've collaborated with the combined team from Google and Urchin Software to bring user-centered design to their strong development skills. I couldn't be more pleased with the results. >>

Does anyone know why I am still getting the old analytics?

Andreas Bovens [PersonRank 3]

Jeff – from the Google Analytics /home: "Over the next several weeks, we will be migrating all existing Analytics accounts to the new Google Analytics interface. You will be notified by email once your account has been migrated."

So, I guess we'll have to wait a little longer...

Haochi [PersonRank 10]

It will take a few weeks for Google to roll it out to all users. New users will automatically be using the new version.

bartheq [PersonRank 1]

Now that the blinding excitement is over here are the things I don't like:

The main dashboard graph no longer shows visits and pageviews together. To view the pageviews I have to switch to another graph and it's impossible to compare the trends. You can only compare another range in the past.

When a single day was selected from the calendar, the graph would switch to 24 hours mode allowing to view hourly activity. Same was with month /showing days/ and year /showing months/. Now the graph always shows last 30 days /for small ranges/ or more and the selected range is highlighted.

There's no easy way to view the stats for the whole year. In the previous version all it took was one click on the year above month list and now a range has to be entered manually.

I guess the new interface is not so cool after all (:

Kevin M. Keating [PersonRank 1]

[put at-character here]bartheq: I also miss the hourly stats for the current day (especially since my site is small and new enough that the fluctuation is really large and informative as far as seeing the outside factors that brought traffic). If you figure out a way to do this, I'd love to know!

Otherwise, like anything it's taking some getting used to, and I have found myself switching back to the old mode a couple times. But there's so much more here, and the presentation is so much nicer...ah change!

MMM;;;; new to this one.

I've got a blog for my exchange – http://conorexchange.blogspot.com/ – and I just added the tracking code and I was wondering if Blogger will show all of my historical data that it might have cooped up somewhere... cause my exchange is done in a week but it's too bad I didn't track the blog from the start...

so in basic: will analytics show data from before the tracking code? my guess is no but it'd make my day if it did ;)

Joke, just UI updated?

I think Google Analytics will join the Google webmaster tool and disappeared.

Colin Colehour [PersonRank 10]

[put at-character here] Hong – I agree that they should add a link to Google Analytics from the Google Webmaster Central page.

Colin C. Thank you.
I think, UI is equal to a product sometimes. We can invent more functions, then should think of delete some repeated functions and make the product easy and still powerful.

Have a small project for UI design as fun now. Thanks.

<< An Error Has Been Detected

Please try again. If you are experiencing long delays, please reduce the selected date range or disable date comparison. Thank you for your patience. >>

Looks like I'm not the only person who's getting this error:
http://davidvseo.blogspot.com/2007/05/error-has-been-detected.html

And I got this several times when I was only requesting one day's worth of data for traffic sources, so there's no way I could possibly have reduced my query.

Anyone else getting this quite frequently?

Mambo [PersonRank 10]

I still haven't got the new interace (and I was one of the first to get the service as well)

sorry to disappoint you users who think you are going to be getting a great product.. you are not.. here are just a few of the issues I have seen..

1. Buggy in Firefox
2. Graphics are too large and text is equally as obnoxious
3. Data that used to be viewable on the front page are now 3-5 levels deep
ex. New maps – I used to be able to look at the executive summary and see where people came from and numbers right there. Now I have to do region/country/city before I can see anything – this is huge esp when monitoring activity of 500k visitors
4. no network location cross-reference data
-- includes kw (no data)
5. Cannot see all goal data at the same time
6. Cannot compare visits, pageviews and conversions at the same time
7. Not organized well – things do not follow a logical progression
8. Items are difficult to locate
9. No real navigational elements
10.Can only view 100 items at a time instead of 500 not bad on small sites, but on a large site where we get 1/2 a million visitors a month it is severely restrictive
11. cannot sort data a all.. if it gives you back the lowest ranked kw there is now way to switch to the largest.. so with 55k kw's i have no way to access data.. that is simple..
12. no summary at the end of the column, so you have to scroll up to view the overall numbers (ie conversion rates or number of visits) etc etc etc...

and this is just from the first 15 mins of using it.
I will go back to the old til they force the new, but I think they made a horrible mistake – along the lines of IE 7 – it is a lousy product! Only people who use analytics for cursory data will be ok with this – if you are a heavy user for a corporate or high trafficked site these changes are going to severely limit your business model. I think it is time to reconsider our options.

photoactive [PersonRank 10]

What are your options, incidentally? What would you be more tempted by?

Philipp Lenssen [PersonRank 10]

What a pleasure to use compared to the old Google Analytics (Urchin) interface.

Mambo [PersonRank 10]

I agree, Philipp. The other one was complete overkill. It's good that they've given a date for switching over everybody, as well. Which, I presume, will be when the new interface comes out of beta.
