You already mentioned most of them. Right now, I can think of four other tools:
http://www.mailinator.net No signup, instant mail. You don't have to give your real e-mail address away any more every time you register with some unknown website.
http://www.changenotes.com Watches the web pages that interest you and notifies you by email when they change.
http://www.bugmenot.com Bypass Compulsory Web Registration
http://wortschatz.uni-leipzig.de Very comprehensive German dictionary, including synonyms. Includes SOAP web services :-).
http://www.lipsum.com/ A very useful Lorem Ipsum generator, providing text in words, paragraphs, lists or bytes. Unlike some sites, the text generated is clean and free of obscenties. A comfort when creating sample pages for clients. This site also provides information on the history of Lorem Ipsum text.
http://www.whatismyip.com/ This is a handy, clutter free site which will immediately provide the IP address of the machine from which you access it. Can be a big timesaver. |
Here are two tools of mine ;-)
http://web-sniffer.net/ A tool to show generated HTTP headers and contents of a webserver.
http://www.ego4u.de/de/dictionary In addition to Leo I'd like to mention our English-German dictionary – with lesser words (130.000) but a clearer interface and an option to view IPA pronunciation. You can also access the dictionary via Firefox. |
http://programmabilities.com/tools has some great online tools. |
babelfish from altavista just uses the technology from SYSTRAN. Google translate (http://translate.google.com/translate_t) also licenses from SYSTRAN. so in theory, there's no difference except a cooler name from altavista referencing the mother of all sci-fi comedies. |
bug me not is cool too..
i use http://dodgeit.com instead of http://malinator.net just because dodgeit is fast. |
i like http://www.ChangeNotes.com – a free service that monitors the web pages that interest you and sends you email when they change. |
For understanding what acronyms mean, I use the http://www.AcronymFinder.com website.
I use http://www.FreeTranslation.com for machine translation – their results are usually better than Systran.
When machine translation isn't good enough, I use their http://www.Click2Translate.com website to translate whole documents.
And http://www.DevGuru.com is a great reference for web / software developers.
[Updated name from "Tony" to "Tony Ruscoe". This was actually my first post, self-promoting some sites I was working on at the time (the middle two anyway) – Tony] |
on the infinite list the last i found is
http://docupub.com/ convert docunents and formats online |
thanks for the docupub, luca!! |
And someone mailed me about http://www.altavista.com/audio/default – apparently a good MP3 search! (They have video search, too.) |
I use www.FreeTranslation.com for machine translation their results are usually better than Systran.

And, of course
web.archive.org
Keeps older versions of nearly all web pages! |
http://free.translated.net is far ahead in machine translation. |
